William D. "Bill" Vitatoe, age 70 of Hamilton, passed away at Hospice of Hamilton on Sunday, January 14, 2018. Bill was born in Hamilton, Ohio on August 2, 1947 to Ollie James Vitatoe and Ethel (Burton) Vitatoe. Bill graduated from Taft High School in 1966. He was a United States Navy Veteran, (Beachmasters Unit One) serving in the Vietnam War. On March 2, 1974 in Hamilton, he married Debbie Stoppiello, and she preceded him in death in 2013. Bill worked and retired from Fairfield City School District. He was an avid golfer, loved traveling, was an amazing athlete, enjoyed watching sports, music, dancing and spending time with friends and family, especially his two grandsons, Zane and Will (his namesake).
Bill is survived by one daughter, Lindy and Rick (Vitatoe) Mathes; two grandsons, Zane and William Mathes; his siblings, Lawrence T. (Pat) Vitatoe, Sandra S. (Frank) Vitale; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Huffman, Susan and Kirk (Vitatoe) Andersen, Rob Huffman, David (LeeAnn) Vitatoe, Ron Warren; his sweet heart, Kathy Kruger, and her sons and families; and over 60 cousins, and a family of friends. Bill was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years; his parents; and one brother Ronald James Vitatoe.
Funeral service will be held at The Front Street Presbyterian Church, 23 S. Front St., Hamilton, OH on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at 12:00 PM with Pastor John Lewis officiating. Burial will follow at Millville Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at The Front Street Presbyterian Church. Memorial contributions can be made to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Southwest Ohio c/o Team Zane.
